Granulator knives for the plastics industries
Granulator knives also known as pelletiser knives, pellting knives, or pellet blades. They usually have the shape of a spatula and are therefore also referred to as spatula knives. These small but very effective knives are used in plastics processing during compounding. In so-called extruders (or twin-screw extruders), a rotating pelletiser knife cuts off the plastic strand pressed out of a die. The hot water added in the process prevents the material from sticking together and being processed further as pellets. Because of this process, pelletiser knives are also called hot cut-off knives. They make it possible to maintain a desired grain size.
A wide variety of materials are used in the production of pelletiser knives, as these knives have to meet very different requirements.
