Who is Paal?

Kadant PAAL GmbH was founded in 1854 in Osnabrück, Germany, as PAAL'S Druckerei and is today the oldest company in the world that manufactures baling presses for almost all pressable materials.

Kadant PAAL'S workforce of around 200 people focuses on the development and manufacture of top-class high-performance balers. Quality and reliability characterize every detail - from development to assembly. Their high performance and durability, as well as exceptionally high availability at low operating costs, help PAAL baler operators to be highly competitive in their market.

With over 150 years of experience and more than 31,000 machines manufactured - well-engineered designs, used 1000 times - Kadant PAAL stands for extremely robust, durable and advanced series machines. The production of Kadant PAAL presses takes place exclusively at the Georgsmarienhütte site in Germany. A guarantee for highest quality and reliability as well as reliable, short delivery times.

The balers

KONTI
The PAAL-KONTI is offered with vertical, horizontal or crosswise tying to cope with even the most difficult materials. Additional options, such as whirlers or perforators, maximise performance even with demanding baling materials. The KONTI's robust construction guarantees maximum performance and reliability, even under the most demanding conditions.

Features
  • Optimised blade, free-feeder and channel design
  • State-of-the-art axial piston pumps with low connected load
  • Advanced pressure plate position measuring system
  • Large doors on both sides of the press box and at the rear of the press
  • Remote access and high-resolution operator panel facilitate service and operation of the press

Advantages
  • High throughput and heavy bales
  • Low energy consumption
  • A three-sided walkway with optional stairs provides easy access to the tying unit
  • Easy to operate and maintain
  • Low operating costs

S1W
Kadant PAAL's fully automatic S1W baling press is particularly suitable for baling tinplate and aluminium cans into packs with very high densities. The very stable construction as well as the high performance and long service life characterise this highly efficient baling press.

Range of application
  • tin cans

Features
  • Compact design
  • High specific pressing force
  • Press box bottom and side walls are covered with highly wear-resistant, screwed special steel
  • Self-cleaning programme ensures trouble-free operation of the automatic press box door

Advantages
  • Low space requirement
  • High bale density
  • Wear plates can be changed quickly and easily
  • Long service life, reduced operating costs

PACOMAT
Kadant PAAL's PACOMAT range is available with horizontal or vertical tying and is the ideal baler for various grades of waste paper, board, cardboard, film, PET and many other materials.
The fully automatic and robust PACOMAT has been firmly established on the market for over 30 years. Pressing forces of 350 kN up to 800 kN produce very highly compressed bales.

Areas of application
  • Agriculture
  • Paper & cardboard
  • Paper & cardboard
  • PET & plastic

Features
  • Optimized blade, free-feeder and channel design
  • State-of-the-art axial piston pumps with low connected load
  • DENSITRONIC controls the required channel opening speed
  • High flexibility thanks to modular hopper concept

Advantages
  • High throughput and heavy bales
  • Low energy consumption
  • Recipe control enables fast changeover between different materials

PAC
Kadant PAAL's PAC is a semi-automatic door baler with manual horizontal tying. The PAC presses a wide variety of materials such as waste paper, cardboard, films, PET bottles, foams and beverage cans. It has a sliding door through which the finished bales are discharged. The baler is designed to manually strap the bales with wire in a horizontal direction.

Thanks to the vertically arranged, hydraulically operated door, the PAC requires little space and does so with full bale output (very long pressure plate stroke). The full bale output makes handling the finished bales much easier than with machines with only partial output. Thanks to various hopper designs and other options, the PAC is very variable and effective. It offers an excellent price-performance ratio.

Areas of application
  • Paper
  • Cardboard & carton
  • PET & plastic

Features
  • Compact design due to vertical bale chamber door
  • Closed bale chamber results in very high density bales, even with difficult materials
  • Simple operation and maintenance thanks to Siemens S7 control system
  • Safe bale removal thanks to hydraulically operated, vertically opening door

Advantages
  • Low space requirement
  • Easy removal of the finished bales

DOKON
Kadant PAAL's DOKON with polypropylene twine binding is the only fully automatic channel baler with twine binding on the market that consistently and reliably operates at the highest performance level. The DOKON has a pressing force of 800 kN to 2000 kN and a bale size of 800 x 1100 or 1100 x 1100 mm. In contrast to bales tied with wire, a DOKON bale is ideal for wrapping in film (no sharp wire ends) and for thermal recycling (PP twine burns without leaving any residue).

Areas of application
  • RDF / biomass

Properties
  • Optimized knife, free-pusher and channel design
  • State-of-the-art axial piston pumps with low connected load
  • Advanced pressure plate position measuring system
  • Binding with PP yarn

Advantages
  • High throughput and heavy bales
  • Low energy consumption
  • Low operating costs
  • Simplifies transport, storage and handling of bales
  • Reduces risk of injury (no wire ends)

HTR
Kadant PAAL's HTR is a fully automatic, high-density, two-way baler that uses PET strapping and maximises throughput thanks to its patented telescopic tunnel.
The universal HTR is suitable for baling household waste (MSW), refuse derived fuels (RDF), agricultural feed (alfalfa, hay, straw etc.) as well as all recycling materials.

Areas of application
  • agricultural
  • RDF / biomass
  • domestic waste

Properties
  • PET strapping
  • Patented telescopic tunnel
  • Highest bale density
  • Highest specific pressing forces, also ideal for agricultural feedstuffs

Advantages
  • Telescopic tunnel - simultaneous compaction and tying increase throughput and efficiency
  • Low operating costs
