In the Y-variant, this item is made of alloyed tool steel. The rotor knife in this variation is approx. 5% harder than the X-option, which results in a longer operating time. Nonetheless, the texture is also more brittle. Due to that it can be more fragile if there is a high level of impurities.
Items of this version are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains consistent from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is homogenous in relation to its life span.
Hardfacing or welding on this version should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be acutely weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.
