In the X-variant, the rotor knife is made of tool steel, which is our standard version in most break down applications. It is characterised by a medium hardness.

Here you are offered a beneficial compromise between resistance to wear and toughness.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a consistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures homogenous wear over the tool life of the rotor knife.

It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of cutting tools of this variation, as the structure will otherwise be severely weakened. Therefore, breakage and machine damage may occur.

 

Fastening in the machine:

When attaching the rotor knife, please ensure that it is only fitted to knife holders or knife crossbars with an intact contact surface in order to prevent breakage.
