Due to the through-hardening process, there is a persistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures consistent wear over the service life of the rotor knife.

Hardfacing or welding on this variant should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be fundamentally weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.
