Cutting performance and durability:
The performance of the cutting tool depends largely on the variation of the material and cutting geometry.
This alloyed tool steel is 5 % softer than the X-variant and is therefore less susceptible to fractures. This makes this W-version ideal for applications where impurities are present in the input. In return, however, this option has a shorter tool life.
Due to the through-hardening process, there is a persistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures uniform wear over the lifetime of the knife.
To avoid breakage and machine damage, it is crucial not to armour or weld on this type, as it will significantly weaken the structure.
