The W-version is manufactured from alloyed tool steel. The knife in this variation is approx. 5 % softer than the X-option, which leads to a shorter operating time but at the same time it is less breakable. Knifes of this variant are used when the contact surface is no longer in an undamaged fit or when the input contains impurities.
In this version, the spare parts are hardened from the edge layer to the core. This means that the knife wears steadily over its lifespan.
It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of items of this variation, as the structure will otherwise be severely weakened. Therefore, breakage and machine damage may occur.
