Cutting performance and durability:

The efficiency of the component depends chiefly on the version of the material and cutting shape.

This alloyed tool steel is 5 % softer than the X-variant and is therefore less sensitive to fractures. This makes this W-variation suitable for utilizations where impurities are present in the input. In return, however, this option has a shorter operating time.

Items of this variant are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains consistent from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is homogenous in relation to its life cycle.

It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of components of this variation, as the structure will otherwise be fundamentally impaired. Consequently, breakage and machine damage may occur.

 

Fastening in the machine:

When installing the knife, please assure that it is only adapted to knife holders or knife crossbars with an undamaged contact surface in order to prevent breakage.
