Cutting performance and durability:
The wear and tear behaviour and thus also the knife life can be impacted by the material and the shape. This means that the performance can be well customised to the application scenario.
In the Y-version, this item is made of alloyed tool steel. The knife in this variation is approx. 5% harder than the X-variant, which results in a longer durability. However, the texture is also more brittle. Due to that it can be more fragile if there is a high level of impurities.
Due to the through-hardening process, there is a uniform hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures homogenous wear over the tool life of the knife.
It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of products of this option, as the structure will otherwise be severely impaired. Therefore, breakage and machine damage may occur.
