Comparatively, the W9-variant is softer than the X-variation. Furthermore, the W9-option wears also faster. On the other hand, it has the advantage of increased toughness and is also insensitive to impurities.

Components of this option are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains the same from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is homogenous in relation to its life span.

Hardfacing or welding on this variant should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be seriously weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.
