The Y-variation of this item is made of alloyed tool steel. Compared to the X-option, it is approx. 5 % harder and thus offers longer operating time. At the same time, nonetheless, the susceptibility to impurities increases, which can lead to breakage more rapidly.
Cutting tools of this variant are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains the same from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is homogenous in relation to its life cycle.
It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of spare parts of this version, as the structure will otherwise be severely weakened. Therefore, breakage and machine damage may occur.
