In the Y-option, this cutting tool is made of alloyed tool steel. The knife in this version is approx. 5% harder than the X-variant, which results in a longer service life. However, the texture is also more brittle. Due to that it can be more fragile if there is a high level of impurities.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a uniform hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures persistent wear over the lifetime of the knife.

To avoid breakage and machine damage, it is important not to armour or weld on this type, as it will seriously weaken the structure.
