The Y-variation of this component is made of alloyed tool steel. Comparatively to the X-version, it is approx. 5 % harder and thus offers longer operating time. At the same time, nonetheless, the susceptibility to impurities increases, which can lead to breakage more rapidly.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a consistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures uniform wear over the service life of the knife.

We underline that this variant should not be armoured or welded on. This has a negative effect on the material structure of the knife, which can subsequently lead to breakage and machine damage.
