Due to the through-hardening process, there is a consistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures homogenous wear over the tool life of the cutter.
It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of items of this variation, as the structure will otherwise be fundamentally impaired. Consequently, breakage and machine damage may occur.
