In the X-variation, the cutter is made of tool steel, which is our standard version in most break down applications. It is identified by a medium hardness.

This combines both toughness and wear insensitivity in a balanced ratio.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a consistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures homogenous wear over the lifetime of the cutter.

Hardfacing or welding on this option should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be acutely weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.

Fastening in the machine:

It is imperative that the cutter is only installed to knife holders or knife crossbars with intact supports, as otherwise the attachment may cause breakage.
