By contrast, the W9-version wears faster than the X-variation due to its lower hardness. Also the insensitivity to impurities and the high toughness of the W9-option is a noteworthy feature compared to the X-variant.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a consistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures uniform wear over the tool life of the counter knife.

To avoid breakage and machine damage, it is important not to armour or weld on this type, as it will acutely weaken the structure.
