Here you are offered a beneficial compromise between insensitivity to wear and toughness.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a uniform hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures consistent wear over the lifetime of the broaching knife.

Hardfacing or welding on this version should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be seriously weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.
